The first management plan for Deng Deng National Park located near Lom Pangar Dam in the East Region was adopted on December 29, 2015.

The management plan is expected to run for the next four years.

Ten Ministries, the indigenous population and local administrative authorities adopted the management plan during a national workshop that took place in the Mvog-Betsi Zoo Botanic garden in Yaounde.

Deng Deng National Park is rich in biodiversity and some of the plants and animals are endemic to the park. The freshness of the park in a typical humid zone makes it unique in the East Region.

The Conservator of the park, Memvi Abessolo Charles, acknowledged importance of the plan and sounded optimistic that things will never be the same as concerns the activities and management of the park.

He said the management plan will improve on the conservation of the plant and animal species found in the park.

According to the Memvi Abessolo, they are expected to build a solid collaboration with the local population, raise funds to support internal development of the park, design projects to attract tourists and donors and above all protect the biodiversity for future generations.

The development of the Deng Deng National Park is being supported by The Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife, The World Bank, Electricity Development Corporation (EDC) French Development Agency (AFD), BRL Ingenierie and SFAB companies charged with the construction of the Lom Pangar Dam.
