Offshore Oil Spill Pollutes Sea, Destroys Fishing Nets

An oil spill some two months ago reportedly polluted sea waters in the east coast of Limbe in the South West Region and destroyed fishermen’s nets. Fishermen from Mabeta in Limbe III Council area said when they went checking their nets, they discovered the nets soaked with thick muddy brownish “tar”, which rendered the nets useless afterwards. The source of the oil spill was not known but it was suspected to have come from oil rigs drilling offshore around the Kange Islands area.
