The cholera epidemic seems to have found a soft spot in Cameroon as a new outbreak has been reported in the Far North Region.
Reports say more than 1.000 cases and 50 deaths have so far been recorded in the Region.
It will be recalled that cholera first hit Cameroon in 2010 after a very long time.
Beginning in May, 2010, the disease affected some 10.000 people nationwide and killed about 650 people.
At least 200 people died from cholera in the Far North between June and August that year.
In 2011, cholera again hit Cameroon with 9.406 people contracting the disease; the Centre Region recorded 687 cases and 43 deaths; Littoral Region took 511 cases and 24 deaths; North – 457 cases and 12 deaths and South West, 336 cases ad 13 deaths. Only one person died in Adamawa Region.
